BIODIVERSITY

Photophonic reflection on biodiversity issues that I found is endangered animals. When 2018, biology course have a trips which we went to Zoo Negara as volunteer. When finish work as volunteer, we are allow to walk around the Zoo Negara. When we walk around, I found only one white tiger and 2 Malayan tiger only in Zoo Negara.

As we know tiger, Sumatran Rhinoceros and Sunda Pangolin is endangered animals in Malaysia. They are in top 8 endangered animals in Malaysia. Malayan tiger is subspecies unique to Peninsular Malaysia with the three priority area for tigers being Taman Negara. In 2015Malayan tiger was placed under the Critically Endangered list.

From 3000 tigers in 1950, but today the number has reduced to around 300 only. While for Sumatran Rhinoceros is the smallest rhinoceros in the world. In dec 2019, last surviving females Sumatran rhino is reported to be in severely ill health. In 2019, the last Sumatran rhino in Malaysia, Iman was died on 23 november 2019.

This species is regraded to be extinct in Malaysia. It now only survives in Indonesia. While Pangolins are protected animals in the world while human fetch a high price for their scales, meat and skin which human believed the pangolin will have medical beneifts. In 2016, the Convention on the International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) imposed a total ban on international trade on all species.
